It’s not a bad cabernet at all especially on the scale that they make this stuff. It was hugely popular many years ago so it does have it’s following. It’s alright…but for $17 you can find something more interesting. I wouldn’t avoid it though.

Sean’s Take
A very classic new world oaked Chardonnay. A little heavy-handed on the oak, but if you listen to the Podcast or read my reviews you know my feelings on heavily oaked Chardonnay. If I was offered an inexpensive Californian oaked Chardonnay and this Australian version, I would pick this Australian. It’s more crisp and clean than the usual buttery Chards. If you prefer your Chardonnays on the buttery and vanilla side, this is a great example at an exceptional price.

The carbonation is very fine and doesn’t lead to that urge to belch. Riesling is not typically found in sparkling wine, so that’s interesting. The flavour I keyed on was a toss-up between kiwi and tangerine, but I settled on the citrus in the end. It’s nice, refreshing, and easy to drink.

Light-medium body. Kind of a like a lighter Shiraz in flavour and body. Slightly drier too. It’s really nice! Not terribly available but maybe next year in your vintages section, if you see it, try it!

Sean’s Take
My opinion of this wine has nothing to do with the packaging. I think these modern and innovative containers for wine are really interesting. They are lightweight, easy to recycle, and less likely to break.
This wine did not offer any characteristics of Chardonnay. It has a vaguely citrusy aroma and an extremely tart, verging on sour, finish.
