Sean’s Take
Full disclosure, this (as far as I can remember) is my first time encountering this grape. I was immediately struck by the structure and acid which made it very bright and very intense. The citrus flavour is kinda vague – I settled on lemon as the leading fruit. After drinking it with some adobo chicken (fatty food works well with acidic wine) I noticed some apple flavours come through. My research tells me the wines made with this grape (Terre di Chieti) has many possible styles. If you like Pinot Grigio try this and let us know what you think.
*No rating at this time as we can’t fairly tell you if it’s “correct” or compare it to another.

Have you ever been to a conference for work and there is a networking session with an open bar and you ask for a glass of white wine and the bartender says “Chard or Pinot Gris?, and you shrug and say “I’ll take the Chard I guess” because you know what that is. This is that wine. Standard issue, nothing to see here white wine. Vaguely tastes of citrus, wait, no, melons? Maybe apples. Could be pears? Nothing amazing, nothing bad. Just a slightly oaked California Chardonnay.

Pleasant surprise for a chilean Pinot Noir, delicate and robust at the same time. This wine is classic new world style pinot but lacks any of those artificial flavours that pop up sometimes. Could use a little bit of depth but at this price point that’s a minor flaw. Great medium bodied wine to enjoy with or without food.

Another lush and juicy wine at a great price point. Chile tends to produce wines with really nice fruit flavours and the perfect level of sweetness. There is a really nice earthy thing happening on the finish that probably from the Carmenere. I’d buy it again and would gift this wine.

Rich, smooth and juicy. Low-medium tannins. Light on structure but very flavourful and easy going in the California way. This is a very popular wine and the fruit is sourced from 3 counties.

Viognier comes in many shapes and sizes…floral or tropical and even sometimes citrusy. This is basic white table wine and doesn’t live up to the grapes potential.

When a wine delivers a text book example of the grape we sometimes call it “Correct”. This is a perfect example of new world Pinot Noir and is absolutely delicious. Lush juicy berries, jammy, hint of earth on the finish.

Malbec is a great alternative to the typical stuff we tend to buy. Here it’s blended with good old cab sauv and does a great job of livening up what could be a pretty heavy wine. While this a wine review site and not an art review site I can’t help but point out what a great label this wine has. Honestly, the label drew my eye at the store and so I brought it home. This organic wine at this price point will be a repeat buy at my house.
Certified No Snob 5/5!
Chuck’s Take
Full bodied, fruity and oaky yet dry on the finish. The finish becomes a little sweeter as you linger between sips. For me, this bottle has notes of: black grapes, oak, black cherry, tobacco

Starts a bit hot, really well combined flavours. Some words and terms really get people going. For instance “moist” and “mouth feel” make my brain skip a beat. This wine has a really great mouth feel from start to finish. Very lush! (add “lush” to the above list)
Chuck’s Take
Notes of ripe cherry, blackberry, light-medium oak. Good structure and a great wine for an Italian dinner. starts off-dry but finishes dry with grippy tannins

A very well done unoaked chardonnay from Ontario. The cooler climate allows for a touch of acidity which makes it nice and bright. Great to serve with rich or creamy dishes, I matched it with stroganoff. This wine screams summer patio!

The first word that popped in to my head when I tasted this wine was “inoffensive”. It’s a Goldilocks wine. Not too sweet, not too dry, not too anything. This is in no way an insult. A great pick when you don’t know what your guests like or what to pair with dinner. The name is likely a play on the French Côtes du Rône – cute.
